CA: PSY24929 || NY: 019303

Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist serving West Hollywood and surrounding communities. I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life. Whether you're feeling stuck in a repetitive pattern that is hindering you from reaching your full potential or are experiencing debilitating symptoms that are impacting your day-to-day functioning, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment that fosters change and growth. My style is supportive, yet active; I also utilize humor when appropriate. Together we will work toward defining and achieving your treatment goals.
It is important to find a therapist who is a good fit for you; therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Please take some time to explore my website and learn more about my services. I look forward to working with you!

About Dr. Monroe

I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, an American Psychological Association accredited program. Throughout my graduate training, I specialized in evaluating and treating adults with long-term mental illness including, but not limited to, major depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I completed an APA-approved internship at a New York State hospital wherein I conducted psychological assessments and implemented empirically-validated interventions for a severely mentally ill (SMI) population. To further my training, I completed a postdoctoral residency at Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. wherein training included working with civil and forensic populations. More specifically, I received training in neuropsychology, violence risk assessments and competency screenings. In addition, I frequently implemented empirically-validated treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as co-facilitated modified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) groups for the SMI population. I am currently licensed in California (PSY24929) and New York (019303). I am also credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists (53302).

Many people fear the unknown, which may be why engaging in therapy for the first time is difficult to initiate. I provide an informed and confidential environment during your initial session (and throughout treatment). During your first session, we will review my office policies, privacy practices, and your reason(s) for initiating therapy. From there, we will identify your goals and work toward achieving them over time.  Each session is 50 minutes in length and typically scheduled once per week. The overall duration of therapy varies for each individual depending on his or her needs. I've worked with individuals who were experiencing interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression or persistent illness, such as schizophrenia. I generally utilize empirically-validated treatments such as CBT, but am cognizant of individual needs and tailor my treatment to each client.

I encourage you to research and consult with several treatment providers to determine whom you feel most comfortable with as research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is a crucial component of therapy. As such, I offer a free phone consultation to determine if we would be a good match for treatment.

I provide psychological assessment for adults including, but not limited to, intelligence, achievement and personality. Psychological assessment is beneficial in that it can clarify a diagnosis, delineate areas of strength and weakness, or inform psychotherapy treatment goals. An evaluation may range from three to twelve hours depending on the referral question. Following the assessment, I will score each test, interpret the results, and develop a comprehensive report, which is typically available three to four weeks following your final assessment appointment. At that time, a feedback session will be scheduled to review the results of the evaluation and answer any questions you may have.

Fees, Payment, & Insurance

During your initial free phone consultation, we will discuss my fees as they vary depending on the service you are seeking.

I accept cash and checks for copayments/coinsurance and services rendered. Credit cards are accepted for payments over $75.

My services are typically reimbursable with most PPO plans. At the end of each month, I can provide you with a receipt for the services that have been rendered for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.   I am an in-network provider with Aetna and Magellan Health. Please note that some Blue Shield of CA members have behavioral health benefits through Magellan Health.    Please contact your insurance company for your benefit information.

Cancellation Policy

Your session is reserved specifically for you. As such, you will be charged the full fee unless notice of cancellation is given at least 24 hours in advance.

New clients: Please thoroughly read through my informed consent and notice of privacy practices. Please complete and bring the following forms to your initial appointment: client information form, acknowledgment form, and credit card authorization.
